LABOUR GAIN

THE GOAL OF FULL EMPLOYMENT
  • Unemployment at lowest level since 1975 and is half that of Germany's and France's!

The fact that when I was growing up in the 1980's Full Employment was seen as a myth in political and practical terms tell you a lot about the Tories and their policies, we now have it in our grasp thanks to a Labour Government in Westminster and Holyrood!

Rightforscotland seems to think that the point that I made about the Labour Party's employment record is wrong, in the first article he should have noted that the Scottish Secretary Douglas Alexander MP said ...

"I welcome these latest figures which show that employment is up, unemployment is down, and the level of economic activity is rising.
"The new record high for employment is particularly pleasing and is an affirmative endorsement of the economic and labour market policies embraced by this government."

The second article shows an unemployment record of 1.71 million, he should also have noted that in 1996 the unemployment rate in Glasgow was 15.2 the latest figures from the Scottish Neighbourhood Statistics it is now under half that! I remember the days when the Tories and the SNP 'ganged the gither' at Westminster and provided Scotland with the highest unemployment rate in my lifetime and the SNP's policies on employment, separation and the economy will bring that back, maybe rightforscotland has a short memory but the Scottish people don't!
